10th Post - Feedback

Learning English in the university has been one of the better experiences to me, because this language since I was kid has been something that attract my atention in a special way. I always think that learning this English was not an obligation but that an opportunity to see the world with different eyes, and express all my ideas or feellings in a different way, and obviously to understand a lot of things of the world, because if the universal language exist it will be probably the English.

If I think, these two semesters of English here in the university has been the consolidation of all the years of this language in the school. I said that not because this classes have been like a resume of all the past but because all the activities, the oral presentation, the blogs, the videos, the practice in class... all the things really help me to understand and talk better, help me to learn so much of English that in all my English classes in the School. An especial tool to practice has been the blog, because with this tool we could practice in special our redaction, our grammar, improve our vocabulary and especially to learn to think the things in English. When I could started to think in English all the things turn more fast and a little bit easiers in all the aspects that involves this language.

I think that my English it's too poor yet, and obviously I have a lot of things that I need to improve, because I feel now that all the things that I know about this language are only the basic knowledge. I want to improve more to someday maybe could talk, write and live the Eenglish without limitations. I have been thinking in take a private course of English  after finish all here in the university, because I don´t believe that I could really improve learning by myself because I don't use the English outside of this classes, because my mom don't know anything about it and I don't have any other option. I only use English in my home when I sing songs in my free time, but that option not help so much to improve my pronunciation and all these things.

Well, that's all, I hope learn more in the future and obviouslly could pass this subject in the final test!

Ninth Post

Maybe since the beginning of the 90’s the preoccupation for climate change and high levels of contamination in the world. These topics are very important because if we don’t have care in the future maybe our kids will be affected. For this reason we have to investigate and search for friendly practices to help in the care of the environment. 

To make this we have a lot of alternatives, like to participate in eco-organizations or simply searching information in internet, there are a lot of options and we only need the motivation to try to change a little bit the things. In my case I practice few friendly practice because in some cases have this kind of life means make some changes that in the beginning cost a lot of money. 

When I was kid, I practiced some time the recycling, I remember that I learned that in the school but with pass of the time I stopped to make it because I went to live to another house, and in for recycling practices my cousins helped me. A habit that I have been doing since four or five years ago it’s to prefer to walk instead the car or the buses to go to the school or the university. When I go to the country I use a lot the bike but here in Santiago I don’t have one. 

For a long time I was thinking in another options for help, and obviously I think in eco-organizations, I try to help in one near of my house that made a greenhouse and some activities of replant in the hills of Renca but this organization was dissolved in 2004. I would like to make so many things to reduce my carbon footprint and help the environment like save energy in my house, re-start the recycling, and change my food. 

I think that in our society we have the obligation to pay more attention in this topic, more politics and projects like more bicycle lanes would be in the future a better life for all of us.

Have you had a good year??

“Have you had a good year?”…  I think if someone ask me that question today, the answer could be the most difficult to me in all the senses. We lived almost ten months of this year and all kind of things happened.

If I think in good things or some kind of achievement, only came to my mind that I achieve pass all the subjects and learn a lot in my first semester in the university. That gave me the chance to firstly have more days of winter holidays and to apply in a program of change of career to try for last time to study medicine. Another good thing that happened to me this year and so much important  it’s that I found a very special person, a girl who makes less stressful and tedious all the things related with the university and makes my days happier. If I think in bad things of this year I only could think in the people that I lost and never returns… I think that my life could never be the same without these two people.

I think that I don’t have more achievements yet, but I believe that I have so many things still to do this year, for example try to pass all the subjects of this semester, fix some familiar troubles and why not make a travel to leave behind all the bad things and boost the good things. I’m not the kind of people who thinks a lot in this kind of things, I only live year by year trying to make my best in all the aspects. Well that's all, I only hope that the rest of the year could be good for me and for all the people that I love.

Seventh Post - The Beatles

In recent times I’ve been hearing a lot of music in the nights meanwhile I study for some test of the university or when I must to prepare a presentation. Obviously hear the same kind of music again and again it’s so boring, for this reason I began to search new music, different of the music that I listen day by day. In this search I found a band so popular in the entire world but that I never had heard a lot… the name is The Beatles.

If I remember I think that maybe the first song that I heard of them was “Yesterday” or maybe “Michelle”, because I must learn how to play both songs in flute, and obviously across my time in the school an now in the university I knew people who really love their music and all related to them, but only few days ago I really realize why all this madness and love, and I only could say that his popularity are incomparable and well deserved.

I can’t say that I love this band or their music but know that I really listen his music carefully I only could join myself to the list of people who think that songs like “And I love her”, “Hey jude” or “I’m happy just to dance with you” are not only good examples of music virtuosity, are anthems that express a part of us that the contemporary times sometimes hide inside of our hearts.

A New Option of Prosthesis

Today in one of the newspapers appears some news that interested me in a special way, Wladimir Silva, a guy of twenty two years old have the lucky to could use from now on one of the five prototypes of artificial hands made only with a 3D printer for Jorge Zúñiga, a physiologist resident in the United States. This new kind of prosthesis came to make easier the life to people with problems like the Poland Syndrome that suffer Wladimir Silva. This syndrome means to Wladimir to born without some muscles of the upper right part of his body and the congenital amputation of some of his fingers. Some others good aspects of this creative prosthesis are that were made with ABS plastic, a very light, malleable and cheap material. The last aspect it’s too important because one of this prosthesis cost only 25 dollars, a fifteen thousand Chilean pesos approximately.

The reason of my interest in this new because to me it’s so good to know that some people use the innovation of our technological world to help people like Wladimir who suffer some kind of disability. Personally I knew some cases very near of disability, because my two half-brothers have one, so any chance to make more comfortable and easier the life of people with this kind of problems have my unconditional support.

 

Fourth post - Free post - Favourite artist

One of my favorite artists is Jeff Buckley. He was a great singer and musician in the ninety’s, he born in California in 1966 and died in a strange situation drowned in the Mississipi in 1997. His fame came with his first and unique album called “Grace”. His father was a very popular singer of the sixty’s but he don’t have a real relation him. With the time appeared a lot of albums of compilation of songs from his shows or rare songs. I listen him firstly for his version of the song “Hallelujah” of Leonard Cohen, the most wonderful version that I ever listening in my life. With his great voice he could change the atmosphere and touch the heart of anyone. After that I began to search more songs and info about him, and with each song I like his music more. Songs like “Grace”, “Everybody here wants you”, “Last goodbye” or “Forget her” makes me a real fan and lover of his music. If I have to choose my favorite song of all his music, without doubt I will choose “Lover, you should’ve come over”. This song is the seventh of his album “Grace” and talks about the reflection of a person who lost his love, but he still loving her. I like it a lot because in this song we could appreciate the talent of this singer, in his lyrics, his voice, his music, etc. That’s all… here one of his songs:

Future Job

    Think in a job that I would like to have it’s a little bit complicated at least these days because it’s my first year in the university, studying the career that in theory will be my job and I’m not sure yet if this is the road that I want. I remember that when I was child I always want to be a job related with help to the people with his health and well, I still want the same, for this reason I’m studying Dentistry. I imagine myself in the future working like now, in other words, trying to do my best in all the things that I do. I want to be a dentist that works in more than one place, I want to have jobs indoor like in hospitals or in a dental clinic but too jobs outdoor like activities of promotion of dental hygiene in schools or similar things because I don’t like to stay a lot of time in the same place. For the same reason I would like to travel so much to carry to any place my help, and obviously to know a lot of places.

   If I think in a major now I would like take in the future, it could be maybe Pediatric Dentistry or Gerodontology, these are the two specialties that I think I would be like because now I see that both are the areas more susceptible and that need more attention. Sincerely I never believe that I would be studying this career, I don’t love it, but if I don’t change the career in the future or something else, I would like to do all the things that I said before (:
